I love teaching feltmaking to beginners because felt making is something that anybody can do! It is not at all intimidating and it does not require special (or costly) equipment or materials. So many people say to me in a rather sad voice “I’m not creative” but I believe that being creative is part of being human and that many people just have not discovered their creativity yet. Many people also feel discouraged if their first attempt at making something does not turn out as well as they had hoped – but they probably wouldn’t give up after their first attempt at something like playing a violin because everybody knows how difficult that is. Every skill begins with learning the techniques and then practising them. The great thing about feltmaking is that even first attempts can (and often do) produce beautiful results.
I also love to teach (and learn from) other feltmakers. We all have slightly different ways of doing things and there is always something new to learn!
If you would like to come to one of my workshops, the cost is £65 for the day for a minimum of two people and includes all the materials you will need, apart from any silk fabric for scarf workshops. I can either supply the silk or you can bring your own (as long as it is suitable) – I can provide details if you contact me.
There will be plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits during the workshop and for lunch you can either visit one of the lovely local cafés or bring a packed lunch. We also have a small supermarket, a baker’s and a wholefood shop very close to the studio.
Why not arrange a feltmaking party for someone’s birthday – or have a hen-night without the hangover!
Workshops take place in my studio in the centre of Brampton in Cumbria but I can teach at other venues if required.
